As the 31st May 2010 deadline passes, many companies are still not registered with the Ministry of Labour to comply with the newly introduced Wage Protection Scheme (WPS).

With exception to some organisations, located within the Free Zones, it is now compulsory to report and pay your employees' salaries through the newly crafted Wage Protection Scheme (WPS). Organisations should contact the Ministry of Labour (MOL) if they are in doubt as to whether the WPS regulations apply to them.....chances are they do.!

Failure to comply with the WPS regulations will currently mean a halt on all work permit applications. Penalties for non-compliance will likely become more severe as time passes.
